 How many until Christmas day

Christmas day

Christmas is an annual Christian festival. This festival is celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of Jesus Christ on 25th December. It is not known whether this day is the actual birthday of Jesus. According to early Christian belief, Jesus entered Mary's womb exactly nine months before this date. It is probably according to this account that the date 25 December is taken as the date of Jesus' birth. Alternatively, the tradition of celebrating the birth of Jesus on December 25 coincided with a historical Roman festival or the southern solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Christmas Day is the central day of the Christmas holiday and the beginning of the twelve-day Christmas celebration in Christianity.
Despite being a Christian celebration in nature, many non-Christian denominations also celebrate Christmas in mass. In some cases, even pre-Christian and secular themes can be seen in the organization of the festival. Gift-giving, music, Christmas card exchanges, church services, feasts, and displays of Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly are part of modern Christmas celebrations. In some countries, the legend of Father Christmas (Santa Claus in North America, Australia, and Ireland) bringing presents to children is quite popular.

Christmas celebrations, including the custom of gift-giving, are of particular importance to the economy of both Christians and non-Christians. A special season of trading and buying and selling takes place on the occasion of this festival. The past few centuries have seen the economic influence of Christmas gradually expand in different regions of the world. Christmas is celebrated as a public holiday in India and Bangladesh.

The history of the Christmas trees!

Christmas day

The year is coming to an end. Christmas is coming. And the special attraction of this big day is the 'Christmas Tree'. Which is decorated with apples, birds, candles, doves, fish, flowers, fruits, angels, and colorful paper and lamps. But many of us may not know or try to know - what is the real secret of this tree?
The three most commonly used for the 'Christmas tree' is the fir tree. It is mainly a cedar tree. Apart from this, the shown tree is also used as a Christmas tree. Christmas trees can be real or artificial.
In addition to the use of lights, the Christmas tree is decorated with various ornaments. A star or angel is placed on top of this tree. This angel symbolizes Jesus Christ born in Bethlehem.
No written records have yet been found of how Christmas tree decorating and gift-giving began. There are various stories about this. One such story is that one day a cold child appeared in the house of a poor shepherd in Rome. The Kathur couple were Jesus devotees. They fed the child lovingly, and let him sleep on a soft bed. In the morning that child assumed the form of an angel and said, 'I am Jesus'. To entertain him, he gave the Arthur couple a branch of a tree and asked them to bury it in the ground. Then on Christmas Day, the branch was found to be filled with golden apples. Then they named this tree 'Christmas tree'.

Another story goes like this-

One day a poor child asked the owner of a church to give him money in exchange for some pine saplings. The gardener took the trees and buried them next to the church. Woke up on Christmas day to find the trees bigger than the church and countless stars shining down from them. The gardener then named the trees Christmas trees.
According to Christian folklore, the tradition of the 'Christmas tree is associated with Saint Boniface of Geismar, Germany. Saint Boniface (672-754 AD) saw a fir tree growing from the root of an ancient oak tree. He established it as a sign of faith in Jesus Christ.
By tradition, the tree cannot be decorated before Christmas Eve on December 24. And it was removed on the 12th night i.e. 6th of January. And many people think that if this rule is not followed, it can be unlucky. But now the Christmas tree is decorated earlier, though not traditionally. In Germany, it is traditionally decorated on 24 December and unveiled on 7 January. In the Catholic tradition, it is kept till the end of January. In Australia, it is decorated in early December and kept until the summer holidays.

Different species of trees are decorated as Christmas trees in different countries. However, the original Christmas tree is considered to be Picea abies. This plant is native to Europe. Hence the tree is commonly called European spruce. Sometimes it is also called Norway spruce. Its genus name Picea is derived from the Greek word Pissa. But the word commonly refers to the pine tree called Picea in Europe. And abies is the common name for the fir tree. It is a fast-growing evergreen tree. which are about 35–55 m (115–180 ft) tall. Their leaves are like needles. The color of the leaves is dark green.
Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom is credited with making the Christmas tree popular. Before Christmas 1848, the Queen asked her German husband, Prince Albert, to decorate a tree the way they used to decorate Christmas trees in their childhood. Prince Albert decorated a green tree in the German style with a variety of sweets, candles, and ornaments. When the picture of the tree was printed in various London newspapers, a competition began between the upper classes in the UK and the US to decorate the Christmas tree. In 1882, Edward Johnson, an associate of Thomas Alpha Edison, introduced electric lights at Christmas for safe lighting. From then on, electric lamps were used instead of candles. In 1889, the 23rd President of the United States, Benjamin Harrison, decorated the White House for the first time with a Christmas tree. Since then, the Christmas tree has become the main attraction of the big day.
